January 1956 Zephyr and Zodiac announced
February 1956 Official launch. Consul announced.Consul & Zephyr convertibles announced. Power top optional on Consul convertible. Borg Warner overdrive optional on 6 cylinder models.
May 1956 Redesigned exhaust system on Consul saloon
August 1956 Rear axle half shafts changed to 24 splines (were 16).
October  1956 Farnham estates, by E.D. Abbott, & Zodiac convertibles introduced. Horizontal strips on previously flat rear panels of Consul and Zephyr. Chrome trim on rear screen pillars.
October 1957 Consul de-luxe announced. Recirculating ball steering box. Concentric gearchange mechanism.
May 1958 Single venturi carb. replaces double venturi type on Consul.
June 1958 Consul convertible has adjustable rake seats.
August 1958 Improved circlips in gearbox. Pressed steel water valve assembly replaces die-cast assembly. 
October 1958  Door lock design modified to prevent keys being locked in.
Feburary 1959 Roofline lowered 1.5 ins to become 'Lowline'. New interior. Revised exterior trim. New rear lights for Consul.
September 1960 Optional servo-assisted disc brakes introduced.
June 1961 Disc brakes made standard. Consul renamed 375. Sealed beam headlights introduced.
November 1961 I.D. marks changed to chassis numbering, starting with:-

Consul:  41A - Saloon
              42A - De-luxe
              43A - Convertible
              44A - Estate
Zephyr: 51A - Saloon
              52A - Convertible
              53A - Estate
Zodiac:  61A - Saloon
             62A - Convertible
             63A - Estate
